Wow! After eleven hours of exploring Rome I am worn out! Everything is so spectacular here - I can't believe it! Today our morning started with a tour of St. Peter's Basilica. One could spend months in there and still not be bored. Everything is SO incredibly beautiful and has so much meaning it is unbelievable. After the tour we were given 2 hours to explore the Basilica and spend some time praying. Being able to pray in front of the tomb of Blessed Pope John Paul II was so awesome. Also there are priests and nuns everywhere!! Gosh, I love this place! Our afternoon was a walking tour through Rome. Our first stop was the Pantheon/Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs. It was beautiful and since it was raining it was neat to see the water coming through the dome of the Pantheon. After that we made a visit to Santa Maria Sopra Minerva where St. Catherine of Siena is buried and got to say some special prayers for the Dominicans! Then we went to San Luigi dei Francesi, another incredibly beautiful church! That was followed by a visit to the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The frescos on that church were incredible - the ceiling was especially beautiful! Our tour ended with a stop to Santa Maria del Popolo but there was a Mass going on so we didn't get to look at the inside. Tomorrow we are off to see the Colosseum and Forum.
Beautiful St. Peter's Basilica.
The relics of the True Cross are held in these!
The top window, second from the right is where the Pope pops his head out for the Angelus.

This is how I feel walking around Rome. Priests and nuns are EVERYWHERE!
